WIRE ROPE needs competent inspection throughout its service life:
We provide testing that accurately depicts wire rope defects, including those missed by visual inspection. Portable instrumentation "reads" the rope along its working length at any speed. The inspection identifies internal and external.......
LOSS OF STRENGTH can be estimated within ± 3.0% of the original strength of the rope.
A skilled inspector will place the instrument around the rope. While the rope runs through the sensor head it is magnetically saturated. The sensor head can be moved along a static wire rope. Defects or changes in the rope structure cause flux leakage's in the magnetic field, that are picked up by Hall-effect sensors. After further processing, metallic area and local fault information is recorded on a strip chart recorder, magnetic tape or computer disk. The inspector can give you "on the spot" results and leaves a Field Report for your immediate use.
FORMAL COMPUTERIZED REPORTS, along with strip charts are sent to you within 14 days. Comparisons are made with past tests and "rope life" is extrapolated into the future. This extrapolation and Estimated Retirement Date, helps take the guess-work out of your budgeting process.

ALL WIRE ROPE wears out eventually, gradually losing work capability throughout its useful life making periodic inspections, lubrication and tensioning necessary. Defects detected during an NDT inspection can help pinpoint the factors leading to and eventual guy rope failure. Many ropes have to be retired due to damage caused by other, outside sources. NDT inspections can help our client to diagnose these conditions before its to late. The life of your investment can be extended once these outside sources are identified and corrected.
OUR INSPECTORS are certified and trained in accordance with ASNT and ASTM guidelines.
